Reverse Voyeur Camera is a three-part series that works together as a unit. The first section of the series is a primitive camera that was created using WED clay and epoxy. The piece was created to look like an eye to mimic the feeling of eyes being on you and can be worn as a necklace. An experience that many women feel on a regular basis. The second section of the series is a series of 4”x6” prints that were the result of taking photos with this camera. It was my intention with this piece to take photos of people giving me unwanted attention and to reverse the narrative of the male gaze to regain control of the situation. The third part of the piece was a diorama of a space with a peephole with a doll that was positioned to look as though he was pleasuring himself. This space was filled with the actual photo negatives that were taken with the camera as well as their contact positives. They were cut out to look as though the man had taken the photos himself. The diorama had a lid and a peephole cut in for the viewer so that in order for the viewer to see the scene they themselves had to become the voyer.

I wanted to create this piece to bring attention to the innumerable amount of times that feminine presenting people deal with creepy masculine people who look at them and impose their own views on them.
